Many who witnessed the resurrection of Lazarus were impressed with the power of God and came to believe in Jesus as the Messiah. This miracle was now the latest and the greatest proof from heaven that Jesus was indeed the Son of God. It had been done in broad daylight near the city of Jerusalem, and could not be denied. There were too many witnesses. Some who were at the tomb that day were spies, and they took reports of the amazing miracle back to Jerusalem. When the chief priests and Pharisees heard what had happened, they called a special meeting of the Sanhedrin.
